I have a PhD in Film and TV theories and social studies from the University of Hull, where I also earned a First in BA Film Studies and claimed two departmental awards for my high performance. I also have A-Levels in English Literature, History and Film Studies, and vocational qualifications in Indian Head Massage, Swedish Body Massage and Aromatherapy Massage.
Experience
Throughout my PhD, I carried out lecture work and related duties such as planning, assessments and feedback on many modules in the American Studies and Screen Studies departments from 2012-2015. This included designing, delivering and having sole responsibility for a year-long module called 'Vigilante Nation' for second year American Studies students, and guest lecturing on modules for first-third year student such as Global Nightmares, Landmarks in World Cinema, American Alternative Cinema, Is TV History? and A History of Hollywood. I have had excellent feedback from both students and colleagues, and intend to use my strengths in individual student development to greater effect. Having been a mature student myself, I am a big believer in taking the time to find and draw out one's natural or latent talents at any age, and as such regard my professional working relationships according to their individual needs and requirements. I also have 7 years of experience in educating and entertaining the general public about conservation, animal rights, the environment and sea creatures. Because of this experience I am comfortable and confident dealing with a broad age range, from children to older adults, and in using a wide array of tactics and approaches to lessons, including work shops, presentations, and interactive sessions.

I am an avid reader of theory, politics, sociology, popular culture and fiction, and I spend a lot of time writing review and articles about these things as a freelance writer. I also carry out cultural and educational tours for tourists and students around central Paris, running my own business ParisLens Tours. In my spare time, I enjoy making aromatherapy blends, cooking, archery, learning French, and walking my dog Willow. I am available in the Paris and Hauts-de-Seine area.
